WHY IT MATTERS
Grassroots clubs run on volunteers, and volunteers do not have time to answer the same questions over and over. Which age groups do you have? Where and when do the under-9s train? Is there space for a goalkeeper? How much are subs? A club website answers those questions once, for every new family and player, so your secretary’s phone is not ringing all week.
When a parent wants to find football for their child, or an adult moves to a new area and wants a team, they search for “football club” or “junior football” with their town name. Clubs with a clear, up-to-date site are easy to find and easy to trust. Clubs that only exist in a closed Facebook group or a WhatsApp chat can be invisible to the people who would love to join.
A website also helps the club itself. Sponsors want somewhere their logo is seen, local businesses look for community clubs to support, and potential coaches and volunteers want to know what they would be getting into. A tidy site shows the club is well run and makes all of those conversations easier.

GET FOUND
Clubs draw players from a few miles around, so your site is built around your ground and your community. It names the town, villages and schools nearby that your players come from, and shows your pitches on a map. People search for things like “under 10s football” or “girls football club” plus a town name, and clear local wording helps search engines connect you to them. We cannot promise rankings, but a proper club site gives you a fair chance.
Create or claim a Google Business Profile for the club and link it to your website, with your ground address and training times. If you take bookings for taster sessions, the Google review request add-on (£2.50 a month) asks families for a review afterwards. A few honest words from parents help nervous newcomers decide to come along.
